What's the difference between Total Days and checking Include the end date?
By default, the tool counts the days between the two dates exclusively, like counting nights between check-in and check-out; checking the box adds one extra day so both the start and end date are counted, which matters for things like counting vacation days or contract durations.
How are Weekdays (business days) counted?
The tool steps through every day between your start and end dates and counts only Monday through Friday, excluding Saturdays and Sundays — it doesn't exclude public holidays, since holiday calendars vary by country and region.
What does the Years / Months / Days figure mean versus Total Days?
Total Days is a straight day count between the two dates, while Years / Months / Days breaks that same span into calendar units, which is more intuitive for describing a long gap like someone's exact age or tenure.
What happens if I pick an end date earlier than the start date?
The calculator automatically treats the earlier of the two dates as the start, so you get the same positive result regardless of which field you filled in first.
Does the calculator account for time zones?
No — the tool works with calendar dates only, not specific times, calculating using UTC internally so the day count isn't affected by your browser's local time zone or daylight saving changes.
How is Total Hours calculated?
It's simply Total Days multiplied by 24, since each full calendar day contains 24 hours — it's a straight conversion of the same day count shown elsewhere on the page, not a separate time-of-day calculation.
