Frequently Asked Questions

Will this photo definitely be accepted by the passport office?

Not guaranteed - this tool crops and resizes your photo to the correct pixel dimensions for the preset you choose, but it cannot verify background color, lighting, expression, glasses, or head-position rules, which vary by country and are ultimately checked by the issuing office. Always compare your result against your country's official passport photo guidelines before submitting or printing it.

What size presets are available?

US Passport/Visa at 2×2 inches (51×51mm), exported as 600×600px; UK/EU Passport at 35×45mm, exported as 413×531px; and India Passport/Visa at 2×2 inches, exported as 600×600px. All three are generated at 300 DPI.

How do I position my face correctly in the crop box?

After uploading your photo, drag inside the crop box to move it or drag a corner handle to resize it, keeping the box's aspect ratio locked to your chosen preset. Center your face and leave even space above your head, matching the live preview on the right.

What file format does the download use?

A JPEG file (image/jpeg) at 92% quality, exported at the exact pixel dimensions of your selected preset regardless of your original photo's resolution.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere to process it?

No. Everything happens locally on the Canvas API in your browser tab - your photo is never sent to a server.
