Frequently Asked Questions
Is this PIN generator actually secure?
Yes — every digit is produced with the Web Crypto API's crypto.getRandomValues(), the same cryptographically secure random source browsers use for security-sensitive code, using rejection sampling so every digit 0–9 is equally likely with no bias. Nothing is generated with Math.random(), which is not designed to be unpredictable.
What does "avoid repeating digits" do?
It regenerates the PIN if any single digit repeats anywhere in it — useful if you want a PIN that's easier to enter correctly without hitting the same key twice in a row's exact digit, though it does slightly reduce the total possible combinations.
What does "avoid sequential digits" do?
It rejects PINs containing an ascending or descending run of 3 or more digits in a row (like 123 or 987), since sequences like these are among the first patterns attackers try when guessing PINs.
Is my PIN sent anywhere or stored?
No — generation happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript, and nothing is saved or transmitted. Closing or refreshing the page discards it completely.
