Statistics Calculator
Find the mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation of any list of numbers.
How to Use the Statistics Calculator
- Enter your numbers, separated by commas, spaces, or line breaks.
- Every statistic updates instantly as you type.
- Use population statistics if your numbers are the whole group; use sample statistics if they're a sample from a larger group.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between population and sample standard deviation?
Population standard deviation divides the sum of squared differences from the mean by the total count (n), and is correct when your numbers are the entire group you care about. Sample standard deviation divides by n−1 instead, which corrects for the bias that comes from estimating a larger population from just a sample of it — use this one if your numbers are a sample drawn from a bigger group.
What if there's more than one mode, or no mode at all?
If two or more values are tied for the highest frequency, all of them are shown as the mode (a "multimodal" dataset). If every value appears exactly once, there is no meaningful mode and the tool shows "No mode."
How is the median calculated for an even number of values?
The numbers are sorted, and for an even count the median is the average of the two middle values; for an odd count it's simply the single middle value after sorting.
Is my data sent anywhere?
