Image Cropper
Drag the box to select the area you want, snap to a common aspect ratio, rotate if needed, then download just that part of the image.
How to Crop an Image
- Click the upload area or drag in a JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
- Optionally click "Rotate Left" or "Rotate Right" first if the image needs turning before you crop it.
- Drag inside the crop box to move it, or drag one of the four corner handles to resize it.
- Optionally click a ratio pill — Free, 1:1 Square, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16 Story, or 4:5 Portrait — to constrain the box's proportions as you resize.
- Click "Crop Image", then "Download Cropped Image" to save just the selected area.
Frequently Asked Questions
What file format is the cropped download?
The output is always a PNG, regardless of whether you uploaded a JPG, PNG, or WebP - the tool exports the cropped canvas region with canvas.toBlob() using the image/png type.
Can I crop to a precise pixel size?
Not by typing numbers directly - you resize the crop box visually by dragging its corner handles, optionally locked to a 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16, or 4:5 ratio. The tool scales your on-screen selection back to the image's real resolution when you click Crop Image, so the exported crop matches full source resolution even though the preview is scaled down to fit the screen.
Does switching aspect ratio presets keep my crop box in the same place?
It keeps the box's width and top-left position, then recalculates height to match the new ratio (or vice versa) - so you may need to reposition slightly after switching presets, but you won't lose your general selection area.
Can I rotate the image before cropping?
Yes - click Rotate Left or Rotate Right to turn the image in 90° steps before you position your crop box. The rotation is baked into the image used for cropping, so what you see is exactly what gets exported, and you can rotate as many times as you like before cropping.
Why does my crop preview look softer than the original image?
The on-screen preview is scaled down to fit within 60% of the viewport height for display purposes, which can make it look slightly softer - the actual crop calculation always uses the full-resolution source image, not the shrunk preview.
Is my image uploaded to perform the crop?
No. Cropping is done entirely in your browser: the selected region is redrawn onto a new canvas at full resolution and exported locally, without any file leaving your device.
