Lorem Ipsum Generator

Generate placeholder text for mockups, layouts, and designs — by paragraphs, sentences, or words, in Classic Latin or Business Jargon style, with optional HTML output.

How to Generate Lorem Ipsum Placeholder Text

  1. Pick a unit using the pill buttons: Paragraphs, Sentences, or Words.
  2. Pick a text style: Classic Latin for the traditional Latin-look filler, or Business Jargon for placeholder text made of real English business and tech buzzwords.
  3. Drag the Amount slider to set how many paragraphs, sentences, or words you want, from 1 to 20.
  4. With Classic Latin selected, leave "Start with 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…'" checked for the familiar classic opening, or uncheck it for fully randomized wording throughout.
  5. Check "HTML output" if you want the result wrapped in real <p> tags, ready to paste straight into markup.
  6. Click Generate for a new batch, then Copy Text to grab the result for your mockup or layout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this genuine, classical Lorem Ipsum text?

Not exactly, and it depends which text style you pick. The Classic Latin style is randomly assembled from a bank of about 85 real and pseudo-Latin words drawn from the traditional Lorem Ipsum passage, shuffled into new sentences on each generation, so the wording differs from the original fixed paragraph you may have seen elsewhere. The Business Jargon style swaps that bank for about 110 real English business and tech buzzwords instead.

Why does the text look different every time I click Generate?

Each sentence is built from randomly chosen words with a random length of 6 to 16 words, and each paragraph uses 4 to 6 randomly generated sentences, so no two generations come out identical — useful for stress-testing a layout with varying text lengths.

What does the "Start with Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" checkbox actually do?

When checked, it forces the first word (in Words mode) or the first sentence (in Sentences and Paragraphs mode) to be the familiar classic opening, while everything after it stays randomly generated. This checkbox only applies to the Classic Latin text style — it's hidden when Business Jargon is selected, since that style has no classic opening line to insert.

What's the difference between the Classic Latin and Business Jargon text styles?

Classic Latin uses the traditional Lorem Ipsum word bank for the familiar look of placeholder text. Business Jargon swaps in a separate bank of about 110 real English words like "synergy," "roadmap," and "stakeholder" instead, which is useful when you want placeholder copy that reads like real (if buzzword-heavy) English rather than Latin — for example in mockups aimed at English-speaking clients or stakeholders.

What does the HTML output option do?

When checked, it wraps the generated text in real <p> tags so you can paste it straight into HTML markup. In Paragraphs mode, each paragraph gets wrapped in its own <p>...</p> tag; in Sentences or Words mode, the whole result is wrapped in a single <p>...</p> tag, since there's no paragraph structure to split it into.

Can I generate an exact number of characters?

No. The slider controls the number of paragraphs, sentences, or words, not an exact character count, since sentence and word lengths are randomized within a range. Paste the result into the Word Counter tool afterward if you need a precise character total.

Does generating text require an internet connection?

Once the page has loaded, no — text is generated entirely in your browser from word lists built into the page's JavaScript, with no server calls involved.
