Frequently Asked Questions
Does this upload my recording anywhere?
No. Recording, playback, and downloading all happen using your browser's own built-in microphone and audio APIs β the audio never leaves your device or gets sent to a server.
Why does my browser ask for microphone permission?
Browsers require explicit permission before any website can access your microphone, as a security and privacy protection. You'll see this prompt the first time you click record; allowing it only grants access to this tab, not permanently or to other sites.
What audio format does the recording save as?
It depends on your browser. Chrome and Firefox typically record in WebM with Opus audio; Safari typically uses MP4 with AAC audio. The tool automatically uses whichever format your browser supports and downloads the file with the matching extension.
Can I re-record if I make a mistake?
Yes β click the record button again at any time. Starting a new recording replaces the previous one in the player, so download anything you want to keep before recording again.
