Frequently Asked Questions

Will a long watermark text run off the edge of my image?

No - in centered mode, the tool automatically wraps long text onto multiple lines and shrinks the font size as needed so the whole watermark block fits within about 80% of the image's width and 60% of its height, even at extreme rotation angles.

What's the difference between Single, centered and Repeated / tiled?

Centered mode places one (possibly multi-line) watermark block in the middle of the image at your chosen angle. Tiled mode repeats the text edge-to-edge across the entire image in a grid pattern, which is harder to crop out but more visually intrusive.

Does this watermark actually protect my image from being copied?

It acts as a visible deterrent and ownership mark, not a technical protection - someone determined enough could still crop, clone-stamp, or otherwise edit around a text watermark. For stronger protection, use higher opacity and a tiled layout that's harder to remove.

What file format does the watermarked image download as?

Always PNG. The canvas is exported with canvas.toBlob() using image/png, regardless of the format you originally uploaded, so any transparency in the source is preserved alongside the watermark.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere to add the watermark?

No. The watermark text is drawn directly onto a canvas containing your image using the Canvas 2D API, entirely inside your browser - the file is never sent to a server.

Can I move the watermark to a corner instead of the center?

Yes - in Single, centered layout mode, use the Position dropdown to choose Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, or Bottom Right instead of Center. Corner positions use a smaller text block than the centered one, since there's less room near an edge.

What does "Add outline for readability" do?

It draws a thin stroke around the watermark text in a color automatically chosen to contrast with your chosen fill color (dark outline for a light watermark, light outline for a dark one), which helps the text stay legible on busy or similarly-colored parts of a photo.
